Regulating Cyanuric Acid in Commercial Pool Maintenance

Cyanuric buildup can cost a commercial pool company time, money, and customers. Cyanuric acid is used as a stabilizing agent in some chlorinated pool tabs, preventing the sanitizer from evaporating from the water too quickly. Without a stabilizer, an outdoor pool could lose all of its chlorination within a few hours. However, a high concentration of cyanuric acid in a pool can cause multiple negative results.

Pulsar®  Systems has created Pulsar® Briquettes, a sanitizer without cyanuric acid, for two reasons:

To Eliminate Excessive Chlorination

Pool disinfection is one of the main duties of a commercial pool manager. If a pool is regularly used by the general public, some form of disinfection may be necessary every day. However, if a company is using chlorinated pool tabs which have cyanuric acid, then cyanuric buildup is inevitable. Cyanuric acid does not degrade and will not allow the chlorine to naturally evaporate. The only ways to remove an overabundance of cyanuric acid from a pool is a partial draining of the affected water or purchasing expensive specialty chemicals which will neutralize the cyanuric acid.

Pulsar® specializes in powerful sanitizers which will not cause excessive chlorination due to cyanuric buildup. Pulsar® Briquettes as just as effective as chlorinated tabs that contain cyanuric acid, without causing any reason for draining water or purchasing specialty neutralizing chemicals.

To Stop Chlorine Immobilization

Cyanuric buildup can make chlorine into a useless chemical. This is why chlorine ineffectiveness is one of the first signs of cyanuric buildup. Commercial pool managers who maintain outdoor pools rely on sanitizers to prevent algae from growing in the water. However, if there is a high concentration of cyanuric acid in the pool, the sanitizer will not be able to break away from the stabilizer to kill algae, bacteria, or harmful parasites such as cryptosporidium. The chlorine and cyanuric acid bond to each other in a way that the chlorine is not able to disinfect or oxidize the water. This occurrence happens so frequently that it is commonly referred to as "chlorine lock".

Pulsar® Briquettes do not contain chemicals which will restrict chlorine effectiveness.

The Pulsar®  Difference

Pulsar® recognized that commercial pool companies in the United States and Canada needed a sanitizing system that will not be affected by cyanuric buildup. Pulsar® provides coagulants and pool maintenance products which are designed for the needs of commercial pool companies. Commercial pool companies rely on Pulsar products which will disinfect, oxidize, and inhibit growth of algae without creating the hassle of cyanuric buildup.

A lot of cleaning companies train their cleaning crew to use the right cleaning supplies and skills for a specific task, and to complete their cleaning to a very high standard.
